Golden Maille

Precision cut, tumbled gold filled rings for your favorite chainmaille projects

I had been making wire jewelry a couple of years when I saw my first handmade chain. I knew immediately that this was a skill that I *had* to learn. I started by ordering the beginner kits from Urban Maille. About 2 inches into that first byzantine bracelet, I knew I was hooked! It soon became an addiction. I wanted to
learn every weave, make every project I had ever seen. But there was one small problem: I worked primarily in gold filled wire and I wanted to make chains in gold filled, too. So I sent a message to Aislyn asking if she had plans to offer gold filled rings. I got the same answer that many of you did: she had no plans to include gold filled rings. For several months, I watched other people ask the same question and get the same answer.

Then it dawned on me: this was a niche that needed to be filled. I asked Aislyn what she thought of the idea. She responded with enthusiasm and Golden Maille was born. She and Gary became my mentors, my teachers and along the way, my friends. They shared their secrets with me and held my hand through the rough times. I will never be able to thank them enough.

My husband Charlie also responded with enthusiasm when I told him what I wanted to do. Even after 20 years of marriage, he remains my biggest fan & supporter. We've worked together for the last 14 years so the idea of starting a business and working side by side every day was not a problem. We are both dedicated to making Golden Maille succeed and to introducing as many people as possible to this addictive art form.If you have questions, comments or just want to say hi, we'd love to hear from you.

My favorite picture of us. Even though we look like we are on vacation, this picture was taken at the St. Marks lighthouse, which was about 10 miles from our home when we lived in Florida.

The next chapter in our lives: We've moved to what we consider our "Forever Home" in the Ouachita Mountains in southwest Arkansas. Our goal was to find a home in Mount Ida, the "Quartz Crystal Capital of the World" but fate had something else in mind. We fell in love with a house in Story, about 15 miles northwest of Mount Ida. We have a gorgeous view of the mountains and some of the most beautiful sunrises in the whole world. We built ourselves a fantastic studio, with huge windows all around so that no matter where we're working, we have a great view. We haven't gotten around to unpacking everything yet, but as Charlie is fond of saying, we have the rest of our lives to unpack those boxes........ *s*
