Moving to a new host

Posted in News on March 14th, 2008

Due to problems with my current host, I’ll be changing to a new one this week. If you are seeing this message on both the front page and the news page, it means you are still looking at the old version but don’t worry - everything should work just fine. Sometimes it takes internet providers a few days to update their records so that you see the new site. Whichever one you see, it shouldn’t cause any problems - both will be fully functional.

2007-2008 Holiday Schedule

Posted in News on December 12th, 2007

Hi everyone! I’ve been so busy getting orders out that I almost forgot to post our schedule for the holidays.

We are going to close December 21st - January 2nd. The last day to order for shipping before we close will be Wednesday, Dec 19th.

After that, we’ll head up north to spend Christmas with my parents. While we’re officially closed, I’ll actually be doing inventory and all those year end spreadsheets that make my CPA think I’m a genius. Then we’ll have our famous jammy day where we take a day to do absolutely nothing - well, I might read a book. But nothing strenuous for sure!

We’ll start shipping orders again on January 3rd. Of course, you’ll be able to place orders on the web site while we’re closed, and we’ll ship them in the order they are received when we get back.

We hope that you have a fabulous holiday season!

New Member of the Family

Last week in our local newspaper, there was a story about a man finding 3 lab mix puppies that had been abandoned on a dirt road, miles & miles from civilization. There was a picture of the puppies in front of the sign to the Fulton Branch Recreation Area, along with the 25lb bag of dog food that the SOB that dumped them had left for them. (You know I’d like to have just a few minutes alone with this guy!)

We read it & forgot about it until we were out searching for a place for Charlie & Danny (my brother) to put in a boat to float down the river and we happened to drive down this same road. I recognized the sign and the empty dog food bag was still there. We checked out the river (you have to be a mountain goat to get to the water!) and headed back to the highway.

About halfway back, I saw a little black face in the woods and realized that one of those puppies was still out there. We stopped & tried to get it, but it kept running off in the woods. So we came home, got hot dogs & dry dog food & went back. This time, it was laying under the sign, beside the empty dog food bag. Charlie threw it pieces of hot dog until it got close enough to grab. We brought it home, gave it a bath & picked a gazillion ticks off it.

Now less than 24 hours later, he has gone from a homeless, abandoned, tick covered stray to a spoiled rotten house puppy. He is pretty much house broken (no messes in the house so far), he walks on a lease, loves to run & play and thinks Stubby (the cat) should want to play with him. Stubby doesn’t agree. I had to play with him forever to get him tired enough that he would be still long enough to get a semi decent picture.

Rose Gold Filled wire availability, again

Posted in News on July 12th, 2007

This time it is the 18ga Rose Gold Filled wire that is in short supply because of mill shutdowns. I will mark each size “Out of Stock” as we sell out. You can still order them, just be aware that you won’t actually get them for 4-6 weeks.

I tried to answer you……..

Posted in News on June 22nd, 2007

If you recently asked me a question about how many 18ga/3.0mm rings per inch for the European 4-in-1 weave, the answer to your question is 44.3. I tried to reply to your email but it came back with the error message “no such user”. Please check your reply-to address. I’m sure you thought that I was ignoring you and I was frustrated because I had no other way of contacting you, but I tried. I really did.

Hackers! @#%$&%*#

Posted in News on February 24th, 2007

*** I’ve come back to edit this entry because of some confusion. The only part of the web site that was attacked was the News page. It runs on Wordpress software, which obviously has some security issues. The rest of the web site wasn’t touched. Some of you have expressed concern about making purchases. Let me assure you that it is 100% safe. Your credit card information is entered on a secure page and goes straight to the credit card processor. I never see it and it isn’t saved anywhere on my website. It is a pain when you want to add one little thing to your order but it is extremely safe. ***
In case you missed it, I was hit by hackers overnight. And unlike most people, I’m pretty sure I know who did it, even though they didn’t sign their real name, and they are hiding behind a hotmail email address, like the cowards they truly are.

You see, earlier this week, I got a phone call from Hacker Safe. The very people that are supposed to protect you from the ugly hackers. Kinda like internet bodyguards. But, unfortunately, I declined to pay for their service. I guess they showed me.

So my message to you is this: when you get a phone call like that, write down every detail. My phone call was listed as “out of area” and the phone number didn’t show up on caller id. Why would a “company” hide their phone number? Get the name & phone number of the person calling (before you tell them no *s*), and make a note of the date & time. Then go back up your files! You know you ought to do that regularly anyway. And if it happens to you, let the whole world know. Either these so called bodyguards are really just big bullies or they have some renegade employees that need to be reigned in.

Rose Gold Filled wire availability

Posted in News on December 31st, 2006

Due to circumstances beyond our control (mainly holidays, mill schedules and weather in Colorado), we are not going to be able to get Rose Gold Filled wire in 16 gauge until the first week in February. As we sell the stock we have on hand, we’ll mark them as “Out of Stock” but we won’t take off the order buttons. Just be aware that if you go ahead and order a size that is out of stock, it will be early February before you see the rings.
